British-born Ngozi Fulani was persistently asked «where are you actually from?»
Mandu Reid, leader of the Women’s Equality Party and an eyewitness to the conversation, told the BBC that Lady Hussey’s questions were «offensive, racist and unwelcome».
He added that although Fulani had previously revealed that he was born and lived in England, he had a «feeling of belief» in the exchange, where he was questioned about where he came from.
Incident and reaction in Buckingham

Witness Reid confirmed to the BBC that the person making the comments was Lady Susan Hussey, who saw the nameplate. Neither Buckingham Palace nor the charity named him.
In a statement from Buckingham Palace, the following statements were included: “We take this incident very seriously and immediately began investigating to determine all the details.«.
«In this case, unacceptable and extremely distressing comments were made. We have contacted Ngozi Fulani about this and invite him to personally discuss all aspects of his experience if he wishes,» Metin said.
